Big Creek
Olympic Peninsula
Big Creek trail conditions are excellent as of June 20, 2026. Reports from March through June consistently describe a well-maintained, shaded trail with no significant obstacles. Parking has been ample on weekdays, though overflow parking on the road was noted on Memorial Day weekend (May 24, 2026) due to high visitor numbers. Waterfalls and creek views are a highlight, with flowers present but not abundant enough for a dedicated wildflower hike (May 28, 2026). Several reports mention numerous bridges, including a "troll bridge." Views of Mt. Eleanor and Lake Cushman are also noted bonuses. Bugs are present but not reported as severe. The campground was closed in late March but has likely opened since.

Awesome trail. Almost entirely shaded by trees. Worth the one extra mile to the viewpoint.
The trail is well maintained and clean. I was the only one there when I arrived at 6am. There's a number of flowers but not enough to label it as a wildflower hike. The waterfalls are stunning, I love...
Very well maintained. Bathroom is clean but bring your own hand sanitizer. Dispenser was broken….It’s memorial day weekend so parking was overflowed to road. So many peoples and dogs yet well spaced a...
Beautiful loop hike with a dog & friends. We saw an owl, snake, wildflowers and many bridges including the troll bridge. The views of Mt Eleanor and Lake Cushman are an added bonus.
First time on this trail and on my birthday I had three goals; to look for Pacific Dogwood in bloom, to check out the lake viewpoint, and to see what birds I could find.Though the road approaching the...
Not many people on the trail in the afternoon. It was after the rain and was misty. I enjoyed the quiet trail and went clockwise on the loop. Lots of cool bridges crossing over the creeks and lots of ...
Nice hike on a well maintained trail. The campground was still closed as of 3/27/26 so we parked on the side of the road. I’d definitely recommend taking the short detour along the Big Creek Confluenc...
I started hiking around 8:20 on a rainy Sunday morning and saw no one else on the trail. There were a few people in the lot getting ready to start their hike as I was leaving around 10am.Most of the t...
Sunny Sunday - so no surprise that the lot was overflowing and then some on our return about 12:30.We'd not been up here since the fire last summer, the preventative mitigation to many sections of the...
This is one of my favorite winter hikes, it's beautiful if you can time it in snow, it's lovely in the rain, and perfection in winter's weak sun. I've only hiked it clockwise (and there is uphill slog...
