Granite Mountain

Snoqualmie Region

updated 5 days ago

As of May 6, 2026, Granite Mountain's trail is largely snow-free and in excellent condition, though the final push to the lookout can be tricky. Snow is melting rapidly, becoming slushy and mushy, especially after 10 AM. Reports from May 3rd and May 6th suggest some routes avoid snowfields, but navigating snow patches, particularly with dogs, requires care. Trekking poles are recommended.

Concerns exist regarding snow bridges breaking through and potential post-holing into voids with rocks below (May 1st, April 30th, March 2nd). Some suggest microspikes for the final section (May 1st, April 8th), while others found them only somewhat helpful in slush (April 5th). The fire lookout was closed on April 8th. Parking was plentiful on April 8th and abundant on April 30th, though a full lot was reported around 11 AM on April 30th. The trailhead toilet is open but BYOTP.
