Mount Peak (Pinnacle Peak)
Mount Rainier Area
As of August 3, 2026, Mount Peak (Pinnacle Peak) is accessible. While SE Mud Mountain Road remains closed due to bridge repair (last reported June 10), the Cal Magnuson trailhead is open. Both the South and Cal Magnuson trails are reported to be in good condition. The Cal Magnuson trail is noted as steep with erosion in places, requiring caution on descents. Blackberries are present but mostly picked. No mud or significant bug issues were reported in late July/early August. Parking was about half-full on an early August weekend morning. The fire lookout is rebuilt and accessible, though the grated steps may pose a challenge for dogs.
