Sauer's Mountain
Central Cascades
As of June 6, 2026, Sauer's Mountain conditions are mostly clear of snow. The trail is described as narrow and can be steep with loose dirt and gravel, especially on descents, making it slippery in places (May 23). Overgrowth is present in some sections (May 23). A confusing gravel road crossing occurs about two miles in, where the trail continues straight uphill (May 23). Parking is very limited to about 10-12 designated spots, with strict towing warnings for illegal parking (May 23).
Wildflower season is past its peak; balsamroot is mostly faded, though some lupine remains (June 6, May 23). Reports from late April indicated peak balsamroot bloom with lupine just starting or in bloom (April 29, April 27, April 25). Mountain bikers have been noted on the trail, which can make narrow sections challenging (April 29).
